MESSAGE FROM JILL POLLEY - 2023 AFFILIATION AND COMPETITION ENTRY

The ECWBA Affiliation and Competition Entry Forms for 2023 are now available - they can be found on the Forms page

If you need them in a different format, please let me know.

Please return all forms A, B, D, E and F as hard copies through the post to me, Hon. Secretary Jill Polley.

Forms C and G must be returned as hard copies through the post to our Treasurer, Jenny Hyland. Payment can be made by cheque or via BACS.

All forms are to be returned by November 1st 2022. Affiliated membership will be as at 30th September 2022 and can be adjusted later as necessary. Due to the increased cost of engraving the entry fee for the County Unbadged Singles, Unbadged Pairs and Champion of Champions has been increased by just 50p per person. There will not be a Bowls England year book.

 

Please encourage your ladies to participate in the competitions and to support the county by becoming an Essex Patron for just £1.

Let's make it a bumper year in 2023.

has been given because I am fully aware that everyone has other commitments. The Area Secretaries have been in contact with the clubs concerned. As different problems have arisen they have been dealt with by the Area Secretaries and I thank them sincerely for the extra hours of work that this has entailed. Let me assure you that we are all working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure that the competitions continue to be conducted both Fairly and Safely.

 

I am getting fed up with being accused of not having the welfare of our ladies in mind and I can assure you that nothing is further from the truth. You need broad shoulders to do my job, but for once I am speaking out. Ladies, please try to see the bigger picture and consider the knock-on effect of what you say and do 

 

Ladies need to listen to OUR messages as the ECWBA Executive conducts our affairs differently to the Men's Association

MESSAGE FROM JILL POLLEY - JOHNS TROPHY

Congratulations to the team who played in the 1st round of the Johns Trophy Essex v Hunts at Royston B.C. on the 18th June 2022. Following an exciting game they won with a +57 score line

The 2nd round v Norfolk was played at Ipswich & District B.C. on 9th July 2022 but despite playing well on a difficult green we unfortunately lost the game -25 shots. We now look forward to next year.

I am delighted to announce that Joan Barrett has come forward to take on the role of Senior Vice-President 2022 for Essex County Women's Bowling Association. Joan has been nominated by her club Witham and seconded by Great Baddow B.C. Joan has taken up her position immediately and is looking forward to meeting you all at the July Council Meeting or around the county on her travels. Witham B.C. and her husband Gordon are pleased to support her in this venture. We have welcomed Joan into the County Team and I am sure you will all join us in wishing her the best for 2022 and in her Presidential year 2023.

Sylvia's funeral will be held on Tuesday 22nd March 2022 at Colchester Crematorium. Masks must still be worn. Afterwards at The Cricketers, Spring Lane, Fordham Heath, Colchester CO3 9TG. I am sorry to have to pass on the sad news that Helen Bush (Hainault BC) passed away recently. Helen had been either the Ladies Secretary or Match Secretary of Hainault Bowls Club since 2008, occasionally fulfilling both roles. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

I am so sorry to have to pass on the sad news that Sylvia Moss (mother of C Area Secretary, Colleen Moss) passed away on Friday 18th February Sylvia played in County competitions and was well known by the ladies in the north of the county. In later life, she was a great supporter and spectator who will be greatly missed by us all. We send our sincere condolences to Colleen and all her family
